12 Bible Verses for Strength and Healing

Hi Friends,

How is your week going and most importantly how are you feeling? Despite getting some disappointing news, my week has been great. Most importantly, we’re thankful for our safety, health and baby boy who turned 1 year. Next week, I’ll share more details about his first birthday and what we decided to do to celebrate while social distancing.

For the last few weeks, I’ve been thinking of how I can help and serve my community during this time. As an Adult Nurse Practitioner I mainly work in the Primary Care or Occupational Health setting, I am not directly in the front lines of the Covid19 virus pandemic like people in the Ambulatory and Hospital setting but my thoughts and prayers are constantly with the people out there risking their lives to help save lives.

With us social distancing and working from home, I’ve had more time to think and pray for Gods guidance during this season. I encourage you to hold on to your faith and find purpose. For me I want to support and serve in my own way which is giving hope and helping you grow in faith and do your part.

My faith in God comes from a deep relationship with him. For me, having faith is the one thing that has ever helped me get through difficult situations. God has been the one constant in my life so no matter what happens, I know that God is in control and everything is going to be alright.

Having faith is so important because that’s what determines your mindset, energy, feelings, attitudes, habits, focus, experiences and outcomes. What we choose to do today in the present, determines our tomorrow and future.

The type of faith I’m encouraging you to have is what I call blind faith because it is not based on what you see or hear but on Gods word and promises. It is faith that is unshakeable and deeply rooted in who God is and not just on what he can give you. This is the type of faith can transform anything and anyone to overcome fear, abuse and trauma. This is the type of faith that gives you peace even when laying in a hospital bed fighting for your life,  dealing with years of infertility or loss because you know that God is the only solid rock on which you can stand on.

It’s easy to say we have faith, but the true test of faith is when things get hard. So ask yourself, in times of challenges, will your faith still stand?

This weekend I woke up with a song in my heart called “On My Knees” by Nicole C. Mullen and God started speaking to me through his word. There were words of affirmations and encouragement from the bible that’s so relevant for this season. The core message is that despite the hardships and chaos going on, do not be afraid, do not be anxious, do not be worried and do not let anything distract your focus from God.

God didn’t promise that life will be perfect, but he said he’ll always be with us no matter what. So stay rooted in God and the storms of life will pass. You have to tune out the noise, hold on to hope and have courage as you continue to exercise your faith, grow spiritually fit and mentally strong.

Here are 12 bible verses for strength and healing to uplift your spirit

Psalm 46: 1-2

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.

Psalm 46: 10-11

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Philippians 4:6-7

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and  the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Matthew 7:7

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

1 Peter 5:7

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Psalm 55:22

Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

2 Timothy 1:7

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline

Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Jeremiah 33:6

Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.

Proverbs 17:22

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Psalm 23:1-6

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
