A Recap of 2017 – My Life, My Adventures
Hi Darlings!
I can’t believe 2018 is literally just around the corner. This has been such an interesting year and I had some challenging moments, but I also had some great moments. Through it all, I learned a lot about myself, my purpose, business, and people, so here is a recap of 2017, my adventures, top photos and blog posts and lessons I learned.
Some of the hardest things I went through this past year was losing one of my grandmothers, being stranded in a foreign country, letting go of people who were toxic in my life, but acted like my friends and learning to set boundaries in my relationships. I learned the hard way that people and things can be unpredictable, but I also learned to cherish moments with loved ones, it was great spending time with my grandmother a few months before she passed away and I was also grateful to see my other grandmother celebrate her 80th birthday. I was also comforted in the knowledge that God is my constant, my compass and in his unconditional love is where I need to always be. So the next time life gets hard, remember that we are all able to withstand it and not only survive, but thrive through it all.
So, despite the challenges, I can confidently say that I am blessed and so are you too. I hit many milestones personally and professionally and continued to walk bravely into my purpose even if it took me out of my comfort zone occasionally. I celebrated my blogs 1-year anniversary and my 5 years wedding anniversary over the summer. I met and connected with a lot of creatives like myself, started treating my blog as a business and realized my worth, which helped me make at least 4 figures a month from it. I also had the time of my life when I got the opportunity to go to NYFW and met so many amazing people most especially Michael Costello. at his SS18 Collection Show.
I also worked hard at growing my brand and community and started creating digital products and providing more services beyond brand sponsorship, like content creation, social media management, style and brand consultation to better serve and support my community.
Finally, I had a great time traveling with or to see loved ones. 2017 kicked off with me in Nigeria and later in the year I went to places like Brazil (Bahia, Salvador, Rio de Jenero), Nevada (Reno, Las Vegas), California (Lake Tahoe), Dallas, Austin, San Antonio all here in Texas and Morocco (Casablanca and Marrakech).
So for 2018, my goal is to continue to connect and understand my community, and create content, products and services which they need. After getting so many questions on how I started my blog and business and how I grew my audience, I decided to create an E-course Passion to Profit which goes LIVE January 1st, 2018. This new year, I’ll also be releasing a Style Guide and an eBook, I’ll be hosting more events and collaborating with some non-profits that are dear to my heart to help them raise funds for their cause. I’ll also be picking up more speaking engagements to empower women through fashion and business. Yes, it may seem like alot, and it may get overwhelming and nerve racking, but I know this is my purpose so I’m also very excited for what the future holds and thankful to everyone for all the love and support.
